Through “Off The Mat Into The World‘s Seva Challenge” (Seva is yoga for service) Davian den Otter raised $20,000 in 2009 to build a school, a 100% green birthing center for HIV+ women and to support an orphanange rehabilitating child soldiers. A percentage is also being used to bring yoga to at risk youth in North America.
Davian was one of many people and yoga instructors across the continent all doing the same challenge and working towards the same goal. Davian and 20 other people hit the $20k mark and will be travelling to Uganda in February 2010 with Off The Mat to participate in the build projects. Davian is an Actor and Yoga Instructor and continues to be involved with Off the Mat leading Yoga in Action workshops.
